I recently read this article on how to better improve your blog. The author compares blogs to a good mixed tape, which all of us can relate to. Really, who can tell me they haven’t made a CD or two for their friends or for themselves to jam to in the car? Everyone knows mixed tapes/CDs need to have good chemistry, flow, and sound but it’s innovative to relate them to blogs. To put it simply: “The creative work of others can be re-mixed in a way that has it’s own, new message.” Here’s a summary.
1. We need to find only the best content. When talking about blog content, readers stay the most interesting when information is interesting, relevant, and fresh. By adding content from other places on the web, “we build trust with our readers by showing them that we’re not just about forcing our own message on them.”
2. Make it easy. Everything needs to be connected somehow. Blogs need to be easy to read and understand for a wide audience. “Make the final product seamless.”
3. Mix it up. After building reader trust you need to throw them new content to keep them interested.
